Meet Rhys

In late 2010, as I started my last year of high school, I began creating videos professionally, largely by accident, but with the help and encouragement of one of my favorite teachers (thank you, Mr. Heise). My adventure began with commercial production- music videos, advertisements for other creatives and small businesses, the occasional photography gig, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I discovered my passion for wedding filmmaking. This discovery happened when an old coworker from my first job asked me to shoot her wedding. Admittedly, I didn’t know much about weddings or how to approach telling a love story at the time, but Clara and Jason were willing to give me a shot- I’m so glad they did. My style and approach to telling love stories has evolved over the years, going from long form documentary style films where I shot things exactly as they happened, to short form pieces with a focus on quality audio, flattering, dramatic lighting and cinematic storytelling. I want your love story to feel like one of your favorite movies.

I film with the intent to evoke true emotion, while transcending the methods that have become commonplace or cliché in wedding videography- like great music, great filmmaking should be timeless. To accomplish this, my team and I cover your wedding day with a photojournalistic approach- capturing real emotions and real reactions as they happen, without being obtrusive to you or your guests.

As I’ve grown creatively, I’ve also grown as a wedding professional. That means wearing my wedding planner hat from our first conversation until the morning of your wedding. The pre-production and planning part of the process is where the magic really happens. I spend countless hours preparing for your wedding day beforehand as well as assisting you in planning and coordinating along the way. We’ve shot hundreds of weddings over the years, so I’m always happy to help or answer questions you may have. Being involved and hands on throughout the wedding planning process helps me get to know you as a couple, but also ensures your day flows the way you envision and remains stress-free, leaving your with great memories of the day and a wedding film that is heartfelt, genuine and true to your unique love story.

When I’m not telling love stories, you can find me enjoying the city, trying new foods and restaurants, in the shop with my friends building and modifying cars (building anything, really) or kicking back and enjoying an open faced PB&J (picture a tostada with peanut butter and jelly instead of the usual savory goodness).

Cinematography is my passion and my means of expression. I regard every project as an opportunity to wow my clients and grow both creatively and technically. I am so thankful to be a part of the wedding industry and to be able to witness and take part in couples starting their lives together on a regular basis. I look forward to many years of crafting marriage movie magic.
